Rental licensing in Ontario is decided city by city. Pick the community and see what its City requires of landlords, whether a renovation licence applies when you give an N13, and who enforces property standards, each linked to the City’s own page.
Choose where the rental is to see the City’s own rules for landlords, its renovation licence if it has one, and who enforces property standards there.

General information from each City’s own pages on the dates shown, not legal advice. If the City’s page and this summary differ, the City’s page is the one that counts.
The checker covers the 31 communities on Tenant.ca’s property management pages. For 14 of them we have read the City’s own rules for landlords, and the answer is the one on that community’s page, with the date we read it. For the rest it says we have not confirmed the rules yet, rather than guessing, and links the City’s property standards office.
Renovation licences come from our comparison of the 9 municipal “renoviction” by-laws, each read in the by-law or on the municipality’s page. This is general information, not legal advice.
